A member-owned organization where people pool resources for common economic benefit, such as savings, credit, or buying goods together. In the Philippines, cooperatives are registered with and regulated by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA). Members contribute share capital, can borrow at generally lower rates than informal lenders, and may receive dividends or patronage refunds from earnings. Common types include credit, consumer, and multipurpose cooperatives. Membership usually requires meeting the coop's conditions and paying fees. Rules on registration, lending, and dividends are subject to the latest rules/guidelines.
