A document from the National Bureau of Investigation certifying whether a person has a criminal record or pending case in its database. It is commonly required for local and overseas employment, business, travel, and other transactions. Applicants register online, set an appointment, pay the fee, and have their biometrics captured at an NBI office or partner site. If a name matches a record, the release may take longer for verification, called a 'hit'. The clearance is valid for a limited period. Fees, validity, and the process are subject to the latest rules/guidelines.
