How to compute 13th month pay in the Philippines?

I'm working as a regular employee in a private company in Manila, and I want to know how to compute my 13th month pay. I've been working for 10 months already, with a monthly salary of PHP 25,000. Can anyone help me with this?

According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the 13th month pay is equivalent to 1/12 of the employee's total basic salary earned within a calendar year. So, if you've been working for 10 months with a monthly basic salary of PHP 25,000, your total basic salary would be PHP 250,000. Your 13th month pay would be PHP 250,000 / 12 = PHP 20,833.33. This is the correct computation, and employers are required to follow this by law.

To compute your 13th month pay, you need to calculate your total earnings from January to December. Since you've been working for 10 months, your total earnings would be PHP 250,000. Your 13th month pay would be PHP 250,000 / 12 months = PHP 20,833.33. However, this is just an estimate, and your employer might have a different computation method.

I've been working in the same company for 5 years, and our HR department computes our 13th month pay based on our basic salary. They exclude overtime pay, night differential, and other benefits. For example, if your monthly basic salary is PHP 20,000, your 13th month pay would be PHP 20,000. But if you have a higher salary like PHP 50,000, your 13th month pay would be PHP 50,000. It's that simple!

I'm a freelancer, and I don't receive a 13th month pay. However, I've heard that some companies give their employees a 13th month pay equivalent to their 1-month salary. For example, if your monthly salary is PHP 30,000, your 13th month pay would be PHP 30,000. This is a good incentive for employees to work hard and stay with the company.
