Regular vs Contractual (Endo)

Employment

Regular employees perform work necessary to the business and enjoy security of tenure, meaning they cannot be dismissed without just or authorized cause and due process. Contractual or fixed-term workers are hired for a limited period or specific project. 'Endo' (end of contract) refers to the practice of repeatedly hiring workers on short contracts, often five months, to avoid regularization. Labor-only contracting is prohibited, while legitimate job contracting is regulated by DOLE. Classification depends on the actual work, not just the contract label, subject to the latest rules/guidelines.
